Shading Techniques in Marquetry

    This instructional video is to demonstrate some techniques that are classically used in marquetry.  Shading has to be well-planned to give the project a realistic appearance.  Some woods take heat sand shading well.  Others shrink and lose too much dimension when heat sand shading is attempted.  This video also shows how charcoal can be used to shade those reluctant pieces; although I much prefer sand shading.
